Fishing with Andy "ShouldBfishin"

We went out to a spot that provided great sight fishing last week because of the depth and the water clarity and set up andys tent to get out of the wind and see the fish better.
I was disappointed to find out the water had turned pretty green in the last week and we could barely see our jigs and the fish. I even blamed andy because he had muddy boots! haha I dont understand how it would get so murky in a week! so we used our flashers and got a couple of sunfish, then nothing. after a while we tried moving, nothing. Then we tried drilling some holes outside and we did really much better getting lots of sunfish and a few crappies. we had two holes that were consistently kicking out fish and it was getting cold, so we dragged the tent over and set up between the two good holes. Andy got a good gill right away, then a pike came through. the sunfish would start to come back, then the pike would come back!
i kept trying to drop a pike lure down to it, but it would take off before I could get it down.
I tried jigging it for a while,nothing.
We couldn't get anymore inside the tent, and I told him his tent was cursed!
We went back to the holes just outside the tent, and sure enough we started yanking out the panfish again! we decided to just fish outside the rest of the day and got lots of fish. it was lots of fun fishing with andy. we didn't get any big fish but we had lots of big laughs!

Bluegills

I got lots of nice bluegills at rush lake for the Ultimate panfish league, but they were not big enough to overcome my tiny sized perch catagory! Oh well, still a great day of fish catching!

This one had a bad slice on its side, pike? snapping turtle? who knows?

Nice bass through the ice

I was on the Mississippi river backwaters Saturday and found a good hole for largemouth bass. I was catching small to medium larrys pretty regularly and decided i wanted to try one of my new jigs to get some pics. I tied on a blue and white haired 64th oz and dropped it down. At first it got ignored by the smmaller fish. Then I big mark showed up on my flasher. it came up to the jig and then just stopped. I watched my spring, nothing. Then I remembered Adam's video of a big bass hitting the jig and I started giving it the same kind of action popping it up and letting it drop, then boom, down when the spring and the fight was on! It ended up being the biggest fish of the day!

A couple of big mouths

Nice fish MT!

On the tip of the lip!

Somone must have snagged it this summer, had a very large hook in its backside!

After removal, yuk!

Smiling bass about to go free with no more hook!

he was so happy he granted me three wishes and then back to the river he went!

Ultimate Panfish league tourney on pelican lake

We had a great turnout for the Ultimate Panfish league second tournament of the year. Sunny and the first day of above freezing weather of the year! Though it was a bit windy. Wow, was there lots of people on the lake today! I should have got more pics, it was quite a scene, but I got to concentrating on the panfish, and they were tough to come by! I never fished in the winter and neither did casey. We decidede to try a spot by and island jack told me about were he got a few sunfish the other day. We drilled some holes and started working the weedy shallows looking for the huge gills that supposed to rome the waters. I started getting a few crappies and casey saw a nice gill, so we camped there. jack and Kyle came by later and fished for a while getting some smaller fish before moving on to look for bigger ones. we decided to stay put, not knowing where else to go and running out of time. it turned out to be a good move. in the last hour I got another nice gill, and two good crappies, and Casey bagged a good sunfish that put us over the rest by one ounce.
I used fatboy jigs and gillpills tipped with red maggots in 5 to 7 ft.
