March Gem club outing

We had our last ice fishing outing of the year saturday, it was another successful one too. We had 6 kids and we met up with another youth fishing club called Young Fishers in Redwing, then we headed down past Alma Wisconsin to fish some of the backwaters of the mississippi. The crappies were not in a biting moode today, but we did get some largemouth bass. (no closed season there!) and bluegills were there thick, but they were finicky for sure, 2 pound test and the tinyest jig were needed to finesse them into biting. Most of the kids got a few fish, and they also had fun exploring the shorelines. For lunch we went up to the nice RV that Ted from young fishers brought and ate some hotdogs and beans, while Dave Lindmark shared from a book that used fishing to illustrate Christian spiritual applications. Then we hit the ice for a couple more hours, Jack found a couple of nice crappies. Praise God for another great outing!
